The second part to the workshop was Richard Sweeney showing us folding plats. I loved these I never realised how by just folding paper can create a very visually attractive 3D piece. At first I couldn't get the method and they just looked like rubbish paper aeroplanes, all crinkled and roughly finished. But once I grasped the technique I made various models of different shapes and size's. Lots of Richard Sweeney's work contains this technique so no wonder he was willing to show us how to create and design in the same style as he does.
I shot the picture alone then all together to show the variations. This technique really turns a 2D paper into a very visually strong 3d structure. This style of design you would most probably be used and seen in architecture and expressive building designs.
THese images I was just playing around with other techniques which I already knew. This is called "cat stairs" With out the workshop I wouldn't of remembered this method as it wouldn't of triggered my memory. Basic folding over on another paper strips but once laid out can look interesting.
